Submersible spiral classifier
- Product Introduction: A classifier equipment in which the overflow end spiral is completely submerged under the liquid surface.
- Capacity: 50~1410 t/d
- Applications: The spiral blades at the overflow end of the submersible spiral classifier are all immersed below the overflow surface. It is mainly suitable for classifying ores with an overflow particle size of 0.15~0.07mm.
- Product Improvements: The sand return end of the Huston sunken spiral classifier is equipped with an automatic sand return lifting device, which can eliminate the configuration of the large spoon head of the ball mill and make the ball mill run more smoothly.
Advantages and Features
- The entire spiral at the overflow end of the submersible spiral classifier is sunk below the liquid level in the settlement zone, which has a large area and depth
- it can generally save 1-1.5 degrees of electricity per ton of ore
- it avoids frequent maintenance of the large spoon head
- it slows down the uneven impact on the large and small gears.
Working Principle

The submersible classifier is a grading equipment that performs mechanical classification by virtue of the principle that solid particles have different sizes and specific gravity, and therefore have different settling speeds in the liquid. Fine ore particles float in the water and overflow, while coarse ore particles sink to the bottom of the tank and are pushed upward by a spiral and discharged. This classification equipment performs mechanical classification. Through the low-speed rotation of the spiral, the slurry is stirred so that the fine particles are suspended above and flow to the overflow weir. The coarse particles sink to the bottom of the tank and are conveyed by the spiral to the discharge port and discharged as return sand. Generally, Huston sunken spiral classifier has 4-5 spiral blades at the overflow weir end, all of which are sunk in the slurry. This type of classifier has a large settling area, a deep classification tank, and the agitation of the spiral has little impact on the surface of the slurry. Therefore, the grading surface is stable and the overflow is large and fine.

Case Study

Tanzania is located in southern Africa and has a savanna climate with high air humidity. Many machines are often eliminated due to rust. In a gold mine project in Tanzania, the demand for ore separation is not particularly large, but the requirements for ore particle size are relatively strict. Huston selected a sunken spiral classifier for the customer based on the customer’s geographical location and needs. The classification overflow particle size is ≤0.015mm. The classification effect meets the customer’s needs, and the ore dressing recovery rate is increased by 11%.
