hydrocyclone
- Product Introduction: A cyclone that feeds materials in the involute direction.
- Capacity: Processing capacity ≤542m3/h
- Applications: The working modes of Huston hydrocyclone include: classification, concentration, dehydration, desliming, sand removal, washing, super fine classification, etc.
- Product Improvements: Huston hydrocyclone adopts the involute feeding method. This involute feeding port is helpful to increase the centrifugal force of the material, improve the classification effect, and greatly reduce the wear of the feed box.
Advantages and Features
- The feed port of the hydrocyclone feeds materials in the involute direction, which increases the centrifugal force of the material, improves the classification effect and greatly reduces the wear of the feed box
- the involute method can reduce the turbulence caused by sudden divergence when the material enters the cyclone, and the slurry runs smoothly inside the cyclone, thus improving the separation performance of the cyclone and reducing the impact wear of the material on the feed box
- The length ratio of the column and cone section of the hydrocyclone and the insertion depth of the overflow pipe are reasonable, and the classification efficiency is higher
- the wear-resistant rubber is used as the lining, and the service life can be extended by 2-4 times
- the structural design is reasonable, the classification index is high, and the index fluctuation is small.
Working Principle

The working principle of Huston hydrocyclone is mainly centrifugal sedimentation. When the two-phase (or three-phase) mixed liquid to be separated enters the cyclone from the cyclone feed port at a certain pressure, a strong three-dimensional elliptical strong rotational shear turbulent motion is generated. Due to the different densities of the particles, they are subject to different centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy, fluid drag, etc. Due to the centrifugal sedimentation, most of the coarse particles (or heavy phase) are discharged through the bottom outlet of the cyclone, while most of the fine particles (or light phase) are discharged from the overflow pipe, thereby achieving the purpose of separation and classification. Huston hydrocyclone has a unique structural design. It adopts a multi-section cylinder composite structure. The height of the cylinder can be increased or decreased according to needs. If the height increases, the overflow fineness increases, up to about 10 μm; and each diameter has a unique combination of barrel length and cone angle, which can achieve a large tangential speed with the smallest total cyclone length, thereby increasing the centrifugal force of the material and improving the classification efficiency.

Case Study

During the classification process of a certain gold mine, it was found that the classification effect was poor and the solid-liquid separation was not obvious, so several hydrocyclones were added. Huston’s grading cyclone equipment adopts an involute feeding method. This involute feeding port is conducive to increasing the centrifugal force of the material, improving the classification effect, greatly reducing the wear of the feed box, resulting in higher grading indexes and smaller index fluctuations. Customers are very satisfied during the actual application process.
